Hi!

I've been reading this blog and i'm glad there is something helpfull besides BCPs for PCOS.
I was diagnosed PCOS 17years old, and now i'm 23. Been on BCP the whole time.
My acne and leg hairs disappeared but i'm experiencing hair loss.
It's gradually thinning and don't have a clue what's the culprit but bcp (been on Diane,Yasmin,Cilest and now Diane again). Did you have similar case? What to do?

I'd like to talk with some educated doctor who knows about alternatives like this progesterone cream therapy but it seems here in my country they all cure pcos the same- bcp.
I read you don't recommend it to take it by your own hand, but what to do if there are doctors who don't know about this type of therapy?

Thank you very much!

Dear Dr Dach,

I took Effexor for 9 months and developed hypothyroid condition.

I also developed sugar problems - I began craving sugar all the time.

now i've been off for 5 months and i'm still hypothyroid.

i am so sure that the Effexor caused my thyroid troubles but my doctor and family just thinks I'm crazy.

I haven't been on any other medications and was in perfect health at 24 when i took it.

do you think SSRIs tend to cause thyroid and other hormonal problems?

why might this happen?

there seem to be alot of voices not being heard regarding this issue.

My team at DU did the original molecular work, in the p-chem lab- on the true distinctions between progestins and progesterone

This is based in the relationship to water on each molecule- completely different.

This is the piece that is not widely understood.

More recently I continue to work on molecular aspects of the estrogen series and oxidative stress potential driving the stability of these structures. My major interest is hormonal effect on mood and emotion. I am currently working in neurosteroid/neurotransmitter interface.

Keep me on your e mail list to receive updates on your interest on bio-identical hormones. I have been researching these for many years.

Sincerely,

Dear Sir,

I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist working in the UK. I have written an educational course on Peptic Ulceration to be posted on a website run by OnMedica. They are a subscription only site which has approximately 2000 subscribed members. Upto 200 members will often review each course. Most are Medical undergraduates or postgraduates in training. They do not have to pay to view these courses.

In preparing this course I happened to find your image on-line and would be very grateful if I could include it within the course material. We would of course site the reference to the image and any text relating to the image.

The image in question is:

I am very grateful for your consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Dach,

Bioidentical hormone replacement after menopause (to me) is like the use of insulin in diabetics. It is the supplementation of something the body has stopped producing.
The medical profession, for the most part, wants us to think these substances are harmful and brainwash us on the news.

Big Pharma is a bunch of drug pushers and the FDA is a joke.

Keep up the good work. BTW I take bioidentical hormones and am very healthy.

I was treated for prostate cancer in year 2000.

Just now (2010) it has spread and become metastatic, with a PSA in 60's.
Will biodentical testerone help fight prostate cancer?
I am 77, and other wise in good health.
Sear SB,

One serious contra-indication to testosterone supplementaion is prostate cancer.
In fact, mainstream treatment for prostate cacner involves using testosterone blocker drugs to block the effect of testosterone. So your answer is, no, testosterone would not be given to a patient with actively progressing prostate cancer.
